This is a video of a Chinese couple who are having a prom night, I guess. Again I want to emphasize on how wrist corsage are now becoming an uprising trend across the barrier of races, skin color and religion. The reasons behind are mostly about its simplicity and practicality but at the same time, still work very well in enhancing the looks of its wearers.

In this video, the theme color of the day is white. Look at the guy’s boutonnière; it is white in color as well. His spouse in this video is wearing a white dress and the white wrist corsage just work very well with her appearance.

The guy in this video prefers to put on the wrist corsage on his spouse’s right hand. If you read my post on “Wrist Corsage FAQ”, this is not traditionally right. I already gave a long explanation regarding to this matter. I suggest that his spouse might be a left hander or she just more comfortable to wear it on the right hand.

In this video, I am mainly interested to comment on the holder, where they have what we called as a zap on wrist corsage holder. It is white in color as well. You can appreciate that it is easy to wear and also quite firm in stability which can prevent it to drop out easily.

Pink dress, pink wrist corsage, pink balloon and pink boutonnière makes everything looks fabulous! This is what we called as monochromatic scheme color. Read my article on “Choose the Right Color” if it sounds alien to you. By the way, the white tuxedo worn by the bride is the best formulation that makes him appear manly but romantic at the same time (remember the pink boutonniere?).

If you already watch Wrist Corsage 01 and Wrist Corsage 02 video, you will find something different in this video. In this video, they have a wrist corsage with ribbon as the holder instead of elastic band. And watch how eagerly the bride was trying to put on the wrist corsage on the groom’s wrist. It appears to be difficult until some of the family members need to give him some hand.

As I have mentioned in my previous writing on “Choose the Right Holder”, I did write in the article that for wrist corsage with ribbon, even it is easy to find and simple (in term of making it) you need to tight it properly or it will be drop out. And you might be watching or already watched that, to tight the ribbon properly is not as easy as saying it.

But do not get me wrong. I did not trying to tell, that you need to forget about wrist corsage with ribbon holder or something. But I would rather look it in a different way. In my post on "+5 Reasons for Wrist Corsage" in reason number 10, I did say something about “..moment that you will never forget..”. If you still did not really understand what I mean, maybe you should replay the video above and pay more attention when it’s approaching 00:53. Look at the time when the groom is looking at her wrist corsage and the bride is struggling on it. That moment and that kind of look is the magic instance that I would say as, “..moment that you will never forget..”. Thus, it does not matter if the wrist corsage drops out again and again during that special day. Have fun with it. Ask the bride to tight it again and again. At least you got something to tell to your grandchildren when the time comes.

“You know your grandpa… During our wedding day, he tight that pink wrist corsage on my wrist for 20 times. And he struggles like mad every time he was trying to tight it again. But from that time, I know that I did make a right choice. I know that he will take care of me forever. I will never forget that moment”.

I am not really sure what language they are talking in. It sounds like Filipino. Do correct me if I am wrong. But I can conclude one thing. It just approve my statement in earlier post that wrist corsage is now an uprising trend and not confine to the westerners or any special nations only.

In this video, the girl’s are wearing a dark pink dress. Perhaps, it is a combination of pink and peach, the color is not so definite. The theme color of the wrist corsage is peach puff, rose as the flower and it surrounding is decorated by leaves in green. The color of the wrist corsage is just greatly matched with the girl’s dress. For the holder, they are using elastic band.

There is one incidence in the video, right before the guy going to put on the corsage; the girl’s wrist bracelet seems like distracting the process. She needs to move it further up before the wrist corsage can be properly placed.

Here is another tip. Make sure that your left hand, or the hand that your partner going to put the wrist corsage on, clear from any kind of accessories. First reason, you do not want that particular hand to look stuffy. Secondly, you are not going to wear a wrist corsage everyday, do you? Why don’t you just leave it empty at this time and make it only and specially for your partner. This is another way to tell him that, “You are special...”

I found this video just simple and sweet, especially the part when the mother was teasing the couple.

By the way, in this video, you can see that the color of the day is blue. I am not very sure, but it might be dodger blue. Both are wearing the same color but for the girl’s dress, the saturation is more.

The wrist corsage theme color is light yellow and white and they using elastic band for the holder. As the color is concern, if you refer my writing on “Choose the Right Color”, this couple’s choice of color scheme is more towards complimentary color, which is not highly suggested for dress and wrist corsage. However, there are several exceptions here. Since the color of the wrist corsage wearer’s dress is not really hue and the wrist corsage color is a very light yellow where it almost approaching white, it seems not so contradicting. Bear in mind that white can match anything. 

The elastic band as what it is, functioning very well. It is acting as how it supposed to be, simple and easy. And the couple, there are just so cute.

Not to make the left-handed person disappointed, but wearing a wrist corsage on the left wrist has its own advantages.

As manner is concern; to eat, to drink, and to shake hand using your right hand considered as a good manner. Using the other hand, which is your left hand, may raise up some bad impression to you and your manner. For sure you do not want your guests, or visitor, or friends, or date, to have such a thought, especially during any special occasion. Wearing the wrist corsage on the left wrist can free your right hand to move and make it available all the way.

Wrist Corsage Preservations (Wrist Corsage)

People say, sweet memories remind us of the roads we have traveled and the people we have loved. And I will say, wrist corsage acts the same way too. As the wrist corsage represent the unforgettable enjoyment of the sweet times spent with families and friends during a special day such as prom or wedding day, preserving the wrist corsage can bring the physical presentation of that memories.

There are several ways that can be used to preserve the wrist corsage of your special day.

Hanging Method

Air drying or hanging is the easiest and best method for preserving flowers. Hung the wrist corsage with the flower is facing upside down in a warm, dry, dark place until the moisture content is greatly reduced. You can consider spraying the wrist corsage with aerosol hair spray to keep the shape of the flowers. It will shrivel up a bit but they should stay the same shape and the same similar color so you can preserve it. Let it untouched for a week, and you can put it in a box for safe keeping after that.

Important notes: Some say that spraying the wrist corsage flower with the hair spray just makes it sticky. If you are not sure about using this method, you can just lay down your wrist corsage on your dresser and let it dry out naturally. Be careful when you move it so later as not to break any petals.

Corn Meal Preservation Method

Here you need to have a part of borax with two parts of cornmeal, and a cardboard with lit. The first thing that you have to do is to mix the borax and cornmeal together. The function of this mixture is to absorb the moisture from the wrist corsage’s flowers without damaging the pedals. Place most of the mixture at the bottom part of the box. With cares, lay the wrist corsage down in the mixture. Put the remaining mixture in between the flowers of the wrist corsage. Evenly grime all flower pedals with this mixture. If you are preserving more than one wrist corsage, make sure that the flowers do not touch each other. Put the lid on the box and store it at room temperature for several weeks. This Corn Meal Preservation method will preserve the flowers of your wrist corsage and allow you to keep the flower forever.

Pressing Method

Pressing is an extremely simple way to preserve flowers although the relief is gone and the flowers are flat. Unglazed paper, such as card or an old blast book, is best for pressing. You need to spread the flowers so they do not overlap amid several thicknesses of newspaper. Additional layers of papers and flowers can be made up and again covered with a lath or a piece of cupboard before you place a heavy object on top of it. The time needed for drying will depend on the size of the flower or tissue content. It can be ranging from two to four weeks. To accelerate the process, you can place a stack of papers and flowers over a light bulb.

Some other method that is not mentioned here are preserving using glycerine, microwave preserving, and preserving using sand and silica gel.

After the wrist corsage perfectly preserved, it is up to you on how to manipulate it. I found that put it in a frame seems to be a cool way of keeping it. I have two examples below where a wife keep the wrist corsage that has been put on by her husband in a frame, together with the ticket and photo of the wedding day. It looks mesmerizing!

2. You asked a girl for a prom. Do not ever think about having a wrist corsage with artificial flowers unless they specially request for it. You are just making her upset if you do so. Choose artificial flowers when…

1. You are a wrist corsage collector and want to decorate your room or house with various type of wrist corsage.

2. You want to have the wrist corsage as your own style when going out for any occasion whether it is just a simple occasion or a special one. So you might want to use the wrist corsage again and again.

3. You partner, prom date, or spouse specially request to have an artificial one. You do not want to disappoint them do you?

The most right color to choose is still the same colors with your suit or dress. However, since flower is remains as the main color for the wrist corsage it is hard to find a flower that can have exactly the same color with your dress. Thus you need to use a wrist corsage with color that share the same tone with the hue color, and slight different in the value and saturation. Maybe it will be wiser if we can learn something about color in general so that you can understand better on how to choose the right color for your wrist corsage that suit your dress the most.

Here are some terms that you first need to know before we go further:

The hue of a color stands for the basic color.
The tone of a color describes the color's density and reflective quality.
The value of a color describes the amount of white or black in the color.
The saturation of a color refers to its pureness and boldness.

If we consider colors as a wheel, we can generally have 2 parts on it. The first half is what we called as “warm colors” and the other half is what we call as “cool colors”.

From the wheel, we can later know the various color schemes. They are monochromatic colors, related colors, complementary colors, and split complementary colors.

1. Monochromatic Colors

Monochromatic colors are the color that shares the same hue but different tones, values and saturation. If you are stuck in choosing the wrist corsage that exactly has the same color with your dress, use the color in this scheme. Picture below is the example of monochromatic colors.

2. Related Colors

If you really can not find any monochromatic colors for your wrist corsage and dress (which is very unlikely), this color schemes is the one and only preferable color schemes that you can consider.

3. Complementary Colors

Complementary colors are the color that located opposite on each other in the wheel. The example is shown in the picture below.

The principle of complementary colors is for one color to give richness to the opposite color on the wheel. This color schemes is very suitable for advertisement but for your dress and your wrist corsage, a deep consideration is needed.

4. Split Complementary Colors

Color expertise called this color scheme as wild and daring. Split complementary colors are the color that possessed on each side of the opposite colors for your main color.

But again, think carefully if it is for the dress and wrist corsage.

In short, whether it is a cool color or warm color, it needs to be depend on the space and orientation of the ceremony. If we know how to play correctly with the color combination, everything will looks wonderful.

Many florists say that, in any designs that involve flowers in its arrangement, do not use more that 4 colors for the best results. Types of Corsages (Wrist Corsage)

Generally, there are 3 types of corsages included wrist corsage and each of them serves different purpose and style. The other two are pinned-on corsage and hand-held corsage which also known as nosegays.

1. Pinned-on Corsage

Corsage by definition is a small bouquet of flowers and pinned-on corsage is simply a small bouquet of flowers that have been designated in such away that it can be pinned on the wearer’s dress or suit. For guys it is better known as boutonnières. Even though the name is different, it still serves the same purpose – to enhance the appearance of the wearers and as an indication for a special person of the day.

Pinned-on corsage generally worn on the left side under the shoulder or some might say, just above the collar bone, with the stem facing the ground. For men, there won’t be so much trouble on placing the corsage since usually there is a ready placed buttonhole on the lapel of a suit jacket or tuxedo, for the corsage to be put on. Otherwise, just pinned it on without so much worry because suit jacket or tuxedo usually made by sturdy fabric material.

For female, the tips on pinned-on corsage given below might be useful:

Be careful of the corsage size. Bigger is not necessarily better. This applied to both male and females especially when attending occasion that involved dancing such as prom night or formal college dance. You would not want to crush the corsage while dancing.

Do not pin the corsage in the area near on the breast. It is inappropriate and it is not very pleasant to have it there as well. If in case that you are wearing a strapless dress, you may want to consider on placing the corsage to the left of your waist. It will look more fabulous.

Avoid from pin on the corsage too high up. The corsage should be pinned at the position which is away from the face so it will not wipe any part of your face such as chin or cheek every time you turning or moving your head. Furthermore, it won’t be comfortable for you as the wearer as well as it will disrupt those who want to have a conversation with you.

If you are wearing a dress with flimsy material, you may want to consider a smaller and a lighter-weight corsage. Otherwise, the material may just droop by the weight of the pinned-on corsage and it will cripple you and your dress’s appearance.

2. Hand-held Corsage (Nosegays)

Nothing much can be said about this kind of corsage besides it is getting more popular nowadays. Maybe it is due to its simplicity compared to a normal bouquet of flowers. Practically it is just as the same as a normal bouquet of flowers besides the size of the flowers used is smaller. However, it is a great choice if you feel that pinned-on corsage or wrist corsage are just annoying and a bouquet f lowers is just too stuffy.

3. Wrist Corsage
